At Hope for Hilltribes, we partner with and equip local organizations in accordance with our mission and vision. We believe locally operated programs possess a deep understanding of cultural intricacies and are best positioned to create significant impact within families and communities. Our work addresses the root causes of trafficking and exploitation by walking alongside vulnerable communities in northern Thailand. Through four integrated programs, we provide prevention, protection, education, and empowerment—ensuring every child and family has the opportunity to thrive in dignity, safety, and hope.
It starts with PREVENTION. We believe that the single most important factor in preventing trafficking is a strong and healthy family. Children are vulnerable because families are vulnerable. This is why we invest into families. Families provide love, identity, belonging, and culture to a child. Eliminating vulnerability, risk, exploitation all begins with family. Our Family of Love program was specifically created to address the core challenges many Hilltribe families face which makes them vulnerable: persistent poverty and a profound loss of hope.

For families facing escalating challenges, the House of Love provides crucial INTERVENTION. While the House of Love has its roots as an orphanage, that was one of the tools used in the bigger purpose of keeping children safe. Today, the House of Love continues this mission with a personalized approach: working with the family to keep children safe and, for cases where no other safe option remains, a nurturing youth home providing a safe environment. While some of the children the House of Love works with are in families and others are living at the Youth Home, the purpose remains consistent: to keep children safe.

Quality child EDUCATION stands as one of the most effective strategies to prevent child trafficking and exploitation. Schools offer children a consistent, nurturing environment; provide caring adults who monitor their well-being and attendance; and inspire them to dream about a brighter future. If a child can attend school and stay in school, the chances of being trafficked drops significantly. The House of Blessing begins with community – teachers make regular home visits to Hilltribe communities to connect with families about the value of education. At the preschool, children learn how to speak, read, and write in Thai as well as other grade appropriate lessons. After graduation, students may be eligible to receive a scholarship to help offset the costs of education and remove a barrier to staying in school.

People with disabilities face many cultural challenges in addition to their disabilities. Training families on care methods, career training, and support networks empowers individual change. Working with over 50 villages and communities in the Mae Hong Son province of Thailand, the Center for Hope provides services designed to EMPOWER vulnerable people with disabilities. People with disabilities living in isolated communities can make choices about their lives and their future, but there are so few resources and community awareness it is easy to give up hope without support. The Center for Hope changes that with a suite of programs and services which equips people with disabilities and their families to make healthy choices and restores hope.
