In 2023, the CDPD received a call from one of the villages we work with; a baby girl named Kanya had a cleft palate and needed assistance. Upon the initial home visit, we found that the family had not taken her to the hospital because they could not afford the costs. Thankfully, we connected them with a local health station, which offered financial aid for services.

The doctors found that Kanya was underweight and malnourished because she could not latch on for milk. In addition, the baby had an irregular heart rate, was ill, and had a chromosomal disease to the point that the doctors began to prepare the mother for the worst and advised her to sign a do-not-resuscitate order.
The CDPD continued to visit and provided the mother with a special bottle the baby could use, diapers, and prayed with the family. Eventually, with the partnership of the local health clinic, CDPD, family persistence, and lots of prayer, the child’s situation improved to the point where she could return home.
The CDPD continued to visit the family to provide food, encourage them, and pray together. Last month, CDPD heard about a team of doctors from Bangkok visiting and volunteering services to help people with physical abnormalities who could not normally afford the surgery. We took the family to see the doctors, and the surgery was a success! Now she is able to eat without choking and is starting to gain weight!
Please continue to pray for Kanya and her family as well as the other people we work with, that God continues to provide the resources and expertise to heal people in Thailand.
