The Fruit of Their Labor

In March, we celebrated 16 students graduating from the House of Blessing preschool. Every child was gifted with a small scholarship to buy one set of uniforms for elementary school, as well as a few food items and some small toys. Almost every child had a family member show up to celebrate with them, which is a change from previous years and shows the fruitfulness of the teachers’ relationship building.

Three years ago, the young man in the picture started at the preschool. Up to that point, he had rarely left his community, did not speak Thai, and had never met a Caucasian before. For three weeks, he cried every day while he was at school, would not leave his teacher’s side, and when I visited, he would run away, thinking I was a ghost. This year, he graduated, and when I asked him in Thai if he was excited about going to kindergarten, he responded in Thai, speaking faster than I could understand. I am so proud of the work he has put in to learn Thai and proud of our teachers for all the time they have invested in these graduates.

Please continue to pray for these amazing graduates as they move on to elementary school. Please pray that their families continue to push through the barriers they may face. Also, please pray for the new young men and women who will be starting preschool in the new school year in May.
